Difference between toasted and non-toasted?

Toasted simply means heat is applied to the outside surface. It may cause a molecular change, but without adding additional calories. It's what you put into the sandwich that makes the caloric difference. You can but pastries that are sugar-free, which helps to reduce calories, but if you crave sweetness, opt for fruits and natural sugars.
