Has anyone had high blood pressure during pregnancy & had to take meds for it? Any complications?

Im 10 weeks pregnant & have had high blood pressure previously to my pregnancy that went untreated. My dr has put me on Labetalol to bring my blood pressure down & so far it's keeping it steady. I really didnt want to take it because of all of the bad things I read on reliable sites online about it potentially causing birth defects, crossing the placenta, being a cl C pregnancy drug & it says you should only take while pregnant if the benefits outweigh the risks. Well, I guess in my case it does, and I know I dont want to deliver early due to high blood pressure or have a stroke, seizure, heart attack etc, but Im just worried about the baby & curious if any of you have had high blood pressure & had to take meds or taken Labetalol during pregnancy & had healthy babies?
